Terminal Commands Reference
welcome to the LosTech Terminal command reference. this guide will help you navigate and utilize all features of the system effectively.
variant browser
Overview
the variant browser one of the primary subsystems of the LosTech Terminal. this interface grants access to the known catalog of BattleTech configurations spanning centuries of warfare. through it, you may:
- explore the vast repository of variants stored in this memory core
- isolate variants by numerous tactical filters
- evaluate advanced performance metrics such as armor coverage, movement profiles, weapons loadout, expected damage at range, and more
Filtering
use the tactical filters to isolate variants by a variety of advanced battlefield and force building parameters
HEAT DELTA measures the difference between heat generation and dissipation if a variant were to fire all of it's weapons at their maximum rate in a single turn
EXPECTED DAMAGE is calculated assuming a base gunnery skill of 4 and cumulative additional modifiers of 3.
then the weapons range is considered to give the total target number needed to hit at a specific range.
the target number is used on a lookup table to give a liklihood to hit on a 2d6 roll. multiplying this chance to hit by weapon damage gives expected damage.
(note: weapons that use the cluster table are treated as if a 7 was rolled for number of hits modified by any weapon specific values.)
use the IN MY INVENTORY toggle to search only for variants that match models you have access to.
these models can be set in the COLLECTION subprocess.
ADVANCED DETAILS
any unit on the variant browser can be clicked to display expanded tactical data crucial to your success on the battlefield
the FLECHS SHEETS button will open a new tab with the associated record sheet for immediate deployment.
COLLECTION MANAGER
INVENTORY System
track your inventory of BattleTech models and quickly access their associated variants
- use the text search to look for base/chassis names
- add these to your collection with specified quntity
- add or remove additional models as your collection changes
- these are stored on your terminal profile and can be accessed anywhere with your authentication credentials
Force Builder
Force Composition SYSTEM
the LosTech Terminal force composition system combines multiple terminal subroutines to help commanders efficiently create and deploy forces
FORCES
the forces view gives you a readout of all previously created forces
this view quickly shows:
- force name
- faction
- era
- battle value
- number of variants
from this view you can also CREATE new forces and VIEW or DELETE existing forces
CREATE NEW FORCE
this routine allows you to create a new force and set initial parameters.
(note: these parameters can be changed later)
FORCE EDITOR
this view allows you to complete a variety of actions including:
- edit force parameters
- view current variants in force
- edit or remove units (including altering piloting and gunnery skills)
- analyze advanced rollup statistics for whole force analysis
BATTLE VALUE is dynamically calculated based on variant PILOTING and GUNNERY skills
use the FLECHS SHEETS ALL button to open record sheets for the entire force during a deployment
units in the force can be clicked to display detailed tactical information similarly to variant browser behavior
clicking the BROWSE UNITS button in this view allows new units to be added to the force
ADD UNITS TO FORCE
this system allows you to add new units to a created force.
it is effectively a special version of the variant browser with a few key differences:
- faction and era filters are preset
- the FLECHS SHEETS button is replaced with an ADD TO FORCE button
- a floating, expandable force panel displays current vs. target BATTLE VALUE and VARIANTS currently in force
when the ADD TO FORCE button is clicked, an interstitial routine will appear where you will be asked to set variant PILOTING and GUNNERY skills
the "X" button in the floating force panel will quickly REMOVE a variant from the current force
VERSION PATCHES
PATCH NOTES
click the VERSION NUMBER at the top of any terminal menu to access the patch note history of the terminal.
when you notice a new version release, check the PATCH NOTES. many exciting and powerfull features are planned for TERMINAL release.
CONTACTING THE ARCHITECT
PATREON
the preferred method of contacting the ARCHITECT is via
PATREON. for only 3 CBILLS a month, you can support the longetivity and future development of the LosTech Terminal.
this is an independent project by a single developer and YOUR SUPPORT MEANS THE WORLDS TO ME.
joining grants you access to the LostTech Terminal private DISCORD server where you can help shape the future of the Terminal.
EMAIL
if you are unable to join the patreon, the ARCHITECT understands. THANK YOU for using the tool. please email any feature suggestions and bug reports to
